Russian bailiffs raid BP's Moscow offices

By Phaedra Friend Troy

According to a report from Reuters, Russian bailiffs raided the Moscow offices of BP (NYSE:BP) on Wednesday, and most of the staff was told to stay home.

Reuters confirmed with bailiffs that the trading unit of BP was raided, but a reason for the raid was not obtained.

The raid came one day after Rosneft signed a major Arctic exploration agreement with super-major ExxonMobil, which included oil and gas efforts in the Kara Sea and Black Sea, as well as tight oil exploration in Western Siberia.

BP had originally inked an Arctic exploration deal with Rosneft, but the agreement fell through.
