Decision Strategies, a Houston-based strategic management consulting firm, announced the appointment of Patrick Leach as chief executive officer and Steve Jacobs, chief operating officer.

“Our goal is to be our clients’ first choice in guiding their teams through the complexities of the decision-making process, and to grow the company through organic growth from our existing services with selected expansion into related services. We’re very excited to have Pat and Steve leading us,” said David Skinner, chairman of the board.

Pat Leach has more than 30 years of industry experience, having spent the last seven with Decision Strategies. He replaces Chris Reinsvold who resigned to pursue other interests.

Prior to his appointment, Leach was a Decision Strategies principal extensively involved in the implementation of strategic initiatives, probabilistic methodologies and analysis of upstream energy projects. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science degree in geomechanics from the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. Leach’s professional memberships include the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, INFORMS and DAAG. He is also the author of Why Can’t You Just Give Me the Number? -- An executive’s guide to using probabilistic thinking to manage risk and to make better decisions.

Jacobs, who joined Decision Strategies in 2008 when his company, Resource Marketing International, was acquired, has more than 30 years of marketing research and consulting experience. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in psychology and education from Oklahoma State University, and is an Energy Information Ambassador for the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Jacobs is active in the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers’ Association, the American Marketing Association and the American Association of Drilling Engineers. He is also founder of the Oilfield Breakfast Forum, one of the oil and gas industry’s most prominent thought-leadership events held three times per year in Houston.
