EDF Trading acquires 82MW CCGT power plant in Massachusetts

EDF Trading, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF S.A., has successfully acquired its first gas-fired generation asset in North America. L’Energia is a nominal 82-megawatt combined cycle plant located in Lowell, Massachusetts.

“This is an important acquisition for EDF Trading and we look forward to expanding our physical presence in the New England ISO,” said John Rittenhouse, Chief Executive.

The plant has been acquired through Tanner Street Generation, LLC (TSG), a special-purpose vehicle. All existing plant operations will be outsourced to PurEnergy, the current operations and maintenance provider.

“One of the greatest assets of this plant is its people. We are fortunate to have some very experienced individuals who have been with the plant since its original construction. We look forward to being part of the Lowell community,” said Cody Moore, Head of North American Power.
