Alfanar wins power contracts valued at $500MM from Saudi Electricity Company

Ali Saleh Al Barrak, CEO of Saudi Electricity Company and Eng. Abdullah Al Hamad, Division Manager, Alfanar Construction The Saudi Electricity Company has awarded two power projects to Alfanar Construction totaling more than SR 1.9 billion (US$506 million), namely the Reinforcement of Hail 2 Power Plant – Extension III and Construction of High Speed Harmain Railway Substations. The projects were signed by Dr. Saleh Al Awaji, the Chairman of Board, Saudi Electricity Company and Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman, Alfanar.

The Reinforcement of Hail 2 Power Plant- Extension III project is aimed at increasing the generation capacity of electric power, to meet the future load demand and to support the existing generation capability of the Hail area by adding 280 MW which will enable the future conversion of the plant into combined cycle. The first two units will be online in August 2012.

The construction of High Speed Harmain Railway 380 kV Substations project will supply power to the upcoming double-track high speed Harmain railway and will include the construction of Six (6) new 380kV Substations. All the Six (6) substations shall be completed and put into service within 24 Months.

Over more than three decades, Alfanar Construction – a member of Alfanar group- has been actively participating in constructing the infrastructure of many power generation, transmission and distribution projects across Saudi Arabia, through a high professional management that ensures the quality requirements and the fast execution within critical time schedules. Among the latest projects are the project at Hail 2- Extension II Power Plant which is expected to be completed before the summer of this year, and the Sharourah Power Plant in the far southern region of the Kingdom that was recently completed.
