The Energy Products Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation has been awarded a contract by Leighton International to supply the subsea power cable system for the Iraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project (ICOEEP).
The order consists of 37 miles (60 km) of 36kV subsea power cables, termination hardware and site support. The cables will be constructed at the division’s manufacturing location in Tønsberg, Norway, and delivered by the end of June 2011.
The combination of an existing business relationship and a local presence in the Middle East contributed to the award of this fast-track delivery.
ICOEEP is an important strategic project for the Iraqi Ministry of Oil (MoO). The crude oil facility of southern Iraq currently exports approximately 1.8 MMBOPD from onshore facilities. The Iraqui MoO plans to further develop offshore loading facilities to enable export capability of 4.5 MMBOPD within 5 years. The ICOEEP Project is designed to achieve this objective.
