Greene’s Energy Group, a leading oil and gas specialty testing, rental and service business, has acquired the assets of Specialized Oilfield Services (SOS), announced CEO Bob Vilyus. SOS is based in Minot, North Dakota, and services the Bakken Shale region

“Greene’s has been searching for the right opportunity to expand services into the Bakken Shale play,” says Senior Vice President Gene Garber, who leads the Greene’s Drilling and Production Division. “We have looked at several companies in the last year in order to find one that has the same core values of customer and service excellence as Greene’s. We are excited to get an excellent team of assets and people who will be the base for our testing, rental and service business in this region.”

“Under the supervision of Regional Manager Dan Hieronymus, SOS has expanded from a small company servicing the Fayetteville shale in Arkansas to a highly valued service company in the Bakken region,” said Vilyus. “SOS is an excellent company with a great management and field technician team; the overall business feel is an excellent fit for Greene’s.”

“We are thrilled to join Greene’s and continue to grow our business in the region,” says co-owner Hieronymus. “With Greene’s support in adding assets and people, we will be in a much better position to service our customers in North Dakota. We are proud of the business we have built and will make it even better under a well respected company like Greene’s.”

Under Mr. Garber, the Drilling and Production business now has 17 locations in the United States. With this addition, Greene’s testing, rental and service businesses now have a significant presence in all of the major shale plays.

In January 2011, Greene’s expanded its business into the Permian Basin by opening a Midland facility, which covers West Texas and New Mexico. The acquisition and Texas growth make Greene’s needed services available in regions where testing, rentals and services are in short supply.

Greene’s continues to set the highest standard in testing with the use of the best available hydraulic technologies, customized equipment, industry leading procedures and dedication to customer focus in the drilling, production, rig/platform construction and pipeline area.

Greene’s Energy Group serves customers globally by offering tools and services to improve productivity and ensure safety both onshore and offshore.

Greene’s employs more than 600 people worldwide with its group headquarters in Houston and operations headquarters in Lafayette, La.
