Harrison partners set to sanction development

LONDON -- ConocoPhillips has started work on the Harrison gas development in the CMS Area of the UK southern North Sea.

According to co-venturer Tullow Oil, the partners have agreed on the export and development concept, and will likely approve the project shortly, followed by submission of the field development plan to the UK government in mid-year.

South of Harrison, Tullow has increased its equity in Block 44/19b and will operate the Cameron exploration well to be drilled in April.

In December, the company acquired a 100% interest in promote Block 49/29d in its Thames hub area. The block has good gas prospectivity, and a well could be drilled this year. If successful, the reserves would be tied back to Thames, which would defer field abandonment commitments and generate further gas sales revenue.

Across the median line in the Dutch North Sea, Tullow began drilling its first exploration well in this sector last month, targeting the Carboniferous Muscovite prospect. This extends from block E16 into block E13b and lies south of Tullow-operated acreage in Quadrants E and D.

Last summer, the company commissioned a high-spec 3D seismic survey last summer over its blocks in these quadrants, covering over 1,600 sq km (618 sq mi). It plans to use the data to mature its Carboniferous prospect inventory, leading to potential drilling in 2012.
