Atwood Oceanics names three new jackup drilling rigs

Atwood Oceanics, Inc. (NYSE:ATW), a Houston-based international drilling contractor, announced names for its three high-specification Pacific Class 400 jackup drilling rigs being constructed at PPL Shipyard PTE LTD in Singapore. 

The Atwood Mako, Atwood Manta and Atwood Orca are scheduled for delivery on September 30, 2012, December 31, 2012 and June 30, 2013, respectively. 

The company originally ordered a firm two jackups, optioning the third drilling rig just last week. Another two optional jackups are included in the contract with PPL Shipyard. The newbuild jackup rigs will have a rated water depth of 400 feet, accommodations for 150 personnel and significant offline handling features.
