Prosafe has been awarded a Letter of Intent (LOI) by Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) for the provision of the Safe Concordia semisubmersible accommodation and service rig for safety and maintenance support offshore Brazil.

The firm period of the contract linked to the LOI is three years, and the total contract value is about US $157 million. Operations are planned to commence early in the second quarter of 2011.

The Safe Concordia accommodation and service vessel is fitted with a Class 2 Dynamically Positioning system with four 2 500 kW thrusters that enable the unit to safely operate alongside a fixed platform without the use of a conventional anchoring system. The vessel also has a large operating deck and a crane that is able to lift 120 tonnes.

The award of this LOI confirms that Brazil is a growing market for safety and maintenance support services.
