Enthusiasm for onshore gas storage projects, shale gas and coal bed methane in the UK and Europe will provide significant growth opportunities for onshore drilling contactor Geometric Drilling, according to the company's Managing Director, Tom Pickering.
"I have met a great many oil and gas companies in the last year, and from those conversations believe that there is strong demand for the range of drilling services we provide and especially for gas storage, shale gas and coal bed methane wells."
Appointed to the role in November 2009, Pickering has sought out and won business from new clients, including a long term contract with a major oil company.
Geometric Drilling was established in 2004 as a 100% subsidiary of Composite Energy, the European coal bed methane specialist, in response to the lack of availability in the UK of modern drilling rigs. Operating across the UK, Geometric has drilled conventional oil and gas wells, gas storage wells and vertical, deviated and multi-lateral horizontal coal bed methane wells, and is also seeking to widen its repertoire to deeper geothermal wells.
Geometric Drilling undertook its first drilling contract for an operator other than Composite Energy in 2008, and hasn't looked back since. Pickering commented: "Geometric Drilling has established itself as a safe and reliable drilling contractor with modern rigs, rigorous operational procedures and a reputation for achieving the intended objectives from each well it drills. That is what our clients are asking for, and we are proud to be in a position to provide that."
Tom Pickering views mainland Europe as a natural addition to the UK for Geometric Drilling's activities: "We have already managed a drilling operation in Poland and are drilling a multi-well programme in Germany at the moment. We have been invited to tender for work in France and I can see us returning to Poland before too long. Italy is another target country."
Geometric Drilling Limited is headquartered in Stirling, Scotland.
