CONSTANTA, Romania -- The construction vessel GSP Bigfoot 1 has resumed work on the Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi (DLS) gas pipeline in the Russian sector of the Black Sea. Earlier, the vessel completed pipelay installations for Melrose Resources’ Galata area development project in the Bulgarian sector.

According to the vessel’s owner GSP Offshore, 95% of DLS pipe-lay program has now been completed. The activities included installation of 150 km (93 mi) of 20-in. (51-cm) pipeline, and 4.5 km of 6-in. (15-cm) pipe. The line’s total length (including the onshore sections) will be 177 km (110 mi).

Remaining tasks include trenching operations over 6.5 km (4 mi) of the pipeline route in the Shakhe region, and on 2.9 km (1.8 mi) in the Kudapesta region, as well as final testing of the subsea pipeline. Other GSP vessels mobilized for this program are the GSP Prince, GSP Vega, and GSP Phoenix.

In the Romanian sector of the Black Sea, Petrom has contracted the mobile drilling rig GSP Jupiter to provide services for one firm side-track and one firm (plus one optional) well.
