Endesa Chile , a subsidiary of Enersis , and Minera Lumina Copper Chile SA has entered into a contract to supply power to the Caserones project , located 162 kilometers southeast of Copiapo, Atacama Region . The agreement includes the supply of energy and power from September 1, 2012 through December 31, 2022.

The reservoir production houses, owned by Minera Lumina Copper Chile SA, are estimated to reach 105,000 tons of copper ore per day, including an ore concentrator. The mine is located 4,000 meters above sea level.

The Caserones consumption levels are estimated at 153 MW at peak demand and 1,000 GWh of electricity per year, making it one of the largest customers of Chile’s Central Interconnected System (SIC).

The signing of this agreement furthers Endesa Chile’s commitment as a supplier of electrical power to major mining projects as they are developed in the country and fulfilling its long-term trade policy.
