Soco secures jackup for appraisal drilling at Te Giac Den oil field offshore Vietnam

By Phaedra Friend Troy

Soco International has contracted the Maersk Convincer jackup to drill the Te Giac Den 2X appraisal well.
The appraisal well is scheduled to spud in early June 2010.

To date, seven exploration and appraisal wells have been drilled on the field, each with an average flow of 11,300 barrels of oil equivalent a day

The Te Giac Den oil field is located on Block 16-1 in the Cuu Long Basin offshore Vietnam and is operated by the Hoang Joint Operating Company.

A development plan for the oil field is expected soon, and partners on Te Giac Den expect first oil by mid-2011. Work bids are under review for FPSO providers, and tenders have already been let for those items that require long lead times.
