LyondellBasell refinery catches fire in Houston

The LyondellBasell refinery in Houston caught on fire Monday afternoon, although the blaze was extinguished within an hour.

According to a report from local news channel KTRK, the refinery’s crude distillation unit caught on fire at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. The processing unit is used to refine crude oil into gasoline.

Firefighters subdued the fire within an hour at the refinery and petrochemical plant located in southeast Houston.

No injuries have been reported from the incident, although the company has not yet submitted a statement.
