TEHRAN -- All development phases of the South Pars gas/condensate field in the Persian Gulf should come on stream by 2015, according to Iranian news service Shana.

Iran’s petroleum minister Seyed Masoud Mirkazemi, who was visiting some of the field’s platforms, told Shana that work on phases 12, 15, 16, 17, and 18 has accelerated. He had also discussed with the South Pars managers setting in motion the idle phases.

Mirkazemi added that operations on the platforms for phases nine and 10 were under way, and that the ministry was trying to shorten their respective completion periods.

Earlier, Pars Oil and Gas Co. Managing Director Ali Vakili had said his company planned to produce a total of 265 MMcm/d (9.36 bcf/d) of gas throughout South Pars, up from a recent average of 200 MMcm/d (7.06 bcf/d).

If all remaining phases could be put in production, this would lift total output to 650 MMcm/d (22.95 bcf/d), Vakili claimed.
