Det norske oljeselskap ASA has received consent from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to conduct exploration drilling in the North Sea with the Bredford Dolphin semisubmersible.

Exploration well 15/9-24 is part of production license 408 and is located about 15 kilometers north-northeast of the Varg field. The water depth at the drilling location is 80 meters.

The duration of the activity will be about 35 days if the well is dry and about 67 days if a discovery is made, including logging, coring and a geological sidetrack.

The Bredford Dolphin is a third-generation semisub of type Aker H-3, built in 1976. The rig is owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Dolphin AS. The Bredford Dolphin received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA on June 28, 2007.
