Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. said that its Comber Wind project has been offered a 20-year contract under the province of Ontario's Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program.

The Comber Wind project is located in the town of Lakeshore in Essex County, Ontario. The project is expected to have an installed capacity of 165 MW and to produce approximately 500 gigawatt hours of energy annually.

The project, which is still subject to final contract execution and customary conditions, is expected to begin construction later this year with a planned commercial operation date in 2011.
