US land rig count on the rise

The number of land rigs drilling onshore the United States has increased again, according to the weekly report by Baker Hughes. 

This week, the number of land rigs working in the US raised by 21 to 1,465 rigs. This is an increase of 422 rigs since this time last year. 

Offshore the US, the number of drilling rigs contracted for work in the US Gulf of Mexico fell by two to 51 rigs. Although a drop, this is an increase of seven rigs for the same time last year. 

Onshore Canada, the rig count continues to slip, with this week’s number dropping 52 rigs from last week to 151 rigs. Nonetheless, this is 76 more rigs than were working during the same week last year.
