Offshore the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic, Rockhopper Exploration has spud the Sea Lion 14/10-B exploration well.

The Sea Lion prospect is located on License PL032, which is 100% owned and operated by Rockhopper. PL032 is located in the North Falkland Basin in water depths of less than 550 meters.

The Sea Lion exploration well is being drilled by the Ocean Guardian semisubmersible drilling rig to an estimated target depth of circa 2,700 meters. Drilling operations are expected to take approximately 34 days and a further announcement will be made once drilling is completed.

Sea Lion is being drilled using the second rig slot in the overall drilling program, after the Ocean Guardian intersected a two-zone natural gas reservoir with the Liz well. The company currently intends to drill its Ernest prospect (100% Rockhopper) using the fourth slot.
