Petrobras' (PBR) CEO, José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo, is the only Latin American mentioned in the list of the thirty most respected CEOs in the world, published by Barron's, a weekly magazine published by The Wall Street Journal. Gabrielli appears in the list for the second year running.
According to the publication, executives who were able to keep their companies away from the global crisis and seized the moment to expand business and make good acquisitions were ed. In the annual pick, Barron's takes the companies' stock performance during the administration of the leaders into account, and prefers those who have been ahead of the company for more than three years.
Petrobras merited space for the high investments it made during 2009 and for the 5% growth in oil production. The publication further highlighted the good performance of the company's stock in recent years, which ensured good returns to shareholders. The thirty executives were listed without any ranking, and in alphabetical order. CEOs of major corporations operating out of several business areas and from different countries were listed together with Gabrielli.
