Axio Power said that it has been awarded 90MW of distributed, ground-mounted solar power projects under the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) Feed-In Tariff program, an initiative of Ontario's Green Energy and Economy Act. An additional 50 MW of Axio projects await final approval, pending the OPA's Economic Connection Test. Axio Power has developed the projects from its Kingston, Ontario offices and will finance, build, own and operate all of the facilities using solar modules and related equipment that meet the 60 percent Ontario domestic content requirements of the program.

Axio Power has worked closely with the Canadian Solar Industries Association and the OPA to bring its projects to fruition. The 90 MW of projects, representing an investment of over CDN $400 million, will be developed in the Fort Erie, Simcoe, Welland, Odessa, Alfred, and Kingston areas. The investment in these solar projects will create green jobs in the construction, manufacturing, engineering, project development and associated sectors in Ontario.
