Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (APC) announced the results of the Wahoo#1 drillstem test in the pre-salt Wahoo field located on block BM-C-30 in the deepwater Campos Basin offshore Brazil. The Wahoo#1 well flowed at a sustained test rate of approximately 7,500 barrels per day of 31-degree API gravity crude oil and approximately 4 million cubic feet per day of associated natural gas. The flow rate was limited by equipment and facilities.

"These are very strong results for the first drillstem test at the pre-salt Wahoo field," Anadarko Sr. Vice President, Worldwide Exploration, Bob Daniels said. "This test confirms the world-class nature and productivity of these reservoirs, and based on data recovered, we believe this well will be capable of producing at a rate well in excess of 15,000 barrels of oil per day. Next, we plan to move the equipment to our Wahoo#2 well, approximately 5 miles to the north, to conduct a second drillstem test. The data from these tests will be important as the partnership works to select an optimum development plan for the field, which has an estimated gross resource potential of more than 300 million barrels of oil."

Once the work is complete on the second drillstem test, Anadarko plans to mobilize the drillship approximately 5 miles south of the original Wahoo discovery to drill the Wahoo South exploration well, which also is located on block BM-C-30.

Anadarko, through a wholly owned subsidiary, holds a 30-percent working interest and is the operator of BM-C-30. Devon Energy Corp. holds a 25-percent working interest, IBV Brasil Petroleo Limitada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat PetroResources Limited and Videocon Industries, holds a 25-percent working interest and SK Energy Co., Ltd. holds the remaining 20-percent working interest.
