Victoria Oil and Gas identifies 'major potential' with Logbaba in Cameroon

In the first geological data obtained on the reservoir since its discovery in 1950, Victoria Oil & Gas has identified a “major potential hydrocarbon accumulation” at its Logbaba gas and condensate field in Douala, Cameroon.

Recently, Victoria performed a passive seismic spectroscopy survey on the Logbaba project, and findings indicate a much larger accumulation of hydrocarbons located on the Victoria license.

Logbaba was originally developed via four wells, and Victoria has just drilled another development well. La-105 is located two kilometers from the newly identified hydrocarbon accumulation.

Furthermore, the accumulation is situated between two existing wells, La-104 and La-101. The sixth well on the field, La-106, is scheduled to be spud on Feb. 6, 2010, and this seismic information is helping the company to determine its location and design.

"The results suggest that a large and unexplored accumulation lies just a few kilometers away from the original discovery,” said Victoria Chairman Kevin Foo. “This would be a considerable addition to our reserve base if it is ultimately confirmed by drilling.”
