United Solar continues work on 4 MW PV installation

3 February 2010 - United Solar Ovonics (USO), a unit of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ENER), continued work on a 4 MW building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system on the roof-tops of the Marcegaglia Group's industrial plant in Taranto, Italy. The project is scheduled to start operating in 2010.

Once fully operational, the complete system – owned 51% by Enel Green Power and 49% by Marcegaglia Group – is intended to produce over 5 million kWh annually, which, according to company estimates, is sufficient to produce enough energy to meet the needs of approximately 1,900 households.
