Seadrill's West Gemini newbuild ultra-deepwater drillship wins West African work

Seadrill (SDRL) now has a letter of award for the ultra-deepwater drillship West Gemini, which is currently under construction in Korea. 

For a value of $345 million, the contract is for two years of work, with an extension option of one year. 

Once construction on the West Gemini drillship has been completed in July 2010, the rig will relocate to West Africa to start the two-year contract. 

The West Gemini ultra-deepwater drillship is a Samsung 10000 Design able to drill up to 37,500 feet (11430 meters) deep in waters measuring up to 10,000 feet (3050 meters) deep.
