11 February 2010 - With this second massive snowstorm to belt the Philadelphia region in less than a week, PECO is working hard to restore service to affected customers across the Philadelphia region. Since the storm began, PECO has restored service to more than 60,000 customers who experienced loss
of electric service, and the company is working to restore service to nearly 90,000 customers currently without electric service.
It is important to note, PECO expects conditions to worsen before they get better and more outages can be expected. The snow and high winds will present a concern for outages beyond midnight tonight, particularly with the accumulation of snow on power lines and tree limbs. PECO has activated its entire emergency response organization and has more than 450 field employees, in addition to back-office support at the storm center and throughout our service territory, working around the clock to repair damage and restore service to customers.
PECO said it's dealing with hundreds of events that represent all of the affected customers, and the company anticipates significantly more outages in the next several hours. PECO said its restoration activities will be prolonged and likely to last multiple days.
