Norweigan Ministry of Petroleum and Energy unveils APA 2010

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced today the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2010, comprising the predefined areas with blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea.

This year’s APA has expanded from APA 2009, adding areas in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. The APA 2010 includes 63 additional predefined areas. Forty-three are in the Norwegian Sea, and 20 are in the Barents Sea.

In the APA 2010, applications can be submitted for all blocks or just parts of blocks in the predefined areas that are not already included in a license. This includes acreage that has been relinquished.

The application deadline is noon on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, and the awards will be announced by the close of 2010 of the start of 2011.
