RWE power unit workers omitted from pay deal

RWE have omitted gas and coal-fired power workers from a pay deal, which will only apply to the utility’s chemica RWE building and banner ls and mining workers.

The company and the IG BCE union have agreed an annual one per cent pay rise covering the next two years for about 11,000 workers in Germany.

Reuters reports that staff at RWE Generation SE and RWE Power AG will not receive a one-off payment of EUR1,000 ($1,100) next year. Instead, workers in those two divisions would benefit from early retirement options, which would in turn allow RWE to reduce activities in the coal- and gas-fired power sector.
