NM Group wins Tasmania power lines aerial inspection deal

NM Group has clinched an asset management inspection contract in Tasmania.

The UK-headquartered company has been hired by state-owned TasNetworks to confirm Tasmanian electricity transmission line capacity and check vegetation clearances to overhead conductors. NM Group wins Tasmania power lines aerial inspection deal

TasNetworks manages nearly 1900 km of lines and they will be surveyed using cameras and laser scanning (or LiDAR) technologies mounted to a helicopter platform.

NM Group’s technical director Shane Brunker said that the project “represents a great example of what I see as best practice in this area – instrumenting an aircraft with a wide range of sensor technologies and presenting the results of the analysis through an intuitive cloud platform, in addition to the standard modelling and reporting”.
