MHPS involvement in 1,000 MW Korean coal-fired power plant

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and construction company Daelim Industrial have secured a contract to supply an ultra-supercritical-pressure boiler for a power plant in South Korea.

The companies are to supply the proposed 1,000MW Shinseocheon coal-fired power plant being developed by Korea Midland Power (Komipo) at a site approximately 200km south of Seoul. The plant will be commissioned in 2019.

Energy Business Review earlier this week reported that MHPS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with another subsidiary of Kepco, Korea Southern Power (Kospo), to exchange thermal power generation related technology.

Under the MoU, the firms intend to promote technical collaboration and joint research between MHPS and Kospo, and have technological liaison with Korea's Yonsei University.

MHPS also partnered with Daelim Industrial earlier for the construction of power plants in the country.
