Spanish involvement in Filipino geothermal power project

Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), an affiliate of Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), has tapped a Filipino-Spanish firm for the operation of a 40 MW geothermal power plant in Naujan, Mindoro.

EPI entered into an agreement with Tamoin Industrial Services Corp. (TISCO) for the project.

TISCO will provide engineering as well as operations and management services for EPI during the construction of the Mindoro geothermal power plant. TISCO is a joint venture between Tamoin group, a Spanish company based in Bilbao, northern Spain and GAAD Inc., a Filipino company based in Manila.

TISCO will provide local support and assessment as well as evaluation of the resources to be assigned to the project.

European companies TSK and Turboden will provide the technical know-how and support, training, spare parts and engineering competence during the construction of the Mindoro geothermal plant.

Once the plant starts running, it will supply energy to more than 250,000 houses in the whole Mindoro Island.
