Hayward Tyler Group acquires Peter Brotherhood

UK engineering business Peter Brotherhood is to be acquired from Dresser-Rand by specialist engineering firm the Hayward Tyler Group.

Peter Brotherhood’s business focuses on steam turbines, reciprocating gas compressors and combined heat and power (CHP) units for the power generation, oil and gas and marine markets. The business was acquired by Dresser-Rand (now owned by Siemens) in 2008.

Peter Brotherhood is the UK’s only producer of steam turbines with an output of up to 40 MW, with applications in waste heat recovery as well as the oil & gas and marine sectors. The company has around 1500 units operational across 100 countries and generated revenues of $46.7m in 2014.

Hayward Tyler Group designs, manufactures and services performance-critical motors and pumps for harsh environments, with its core markets including thermal and nuclear power generation, oil & gas exploration and the chemical/industrials sector. It has facilities in the UK, US, China and India.

Hayward Tyler Group will pay $15m for Peter Brotherhood’s business and the acquisition is scheduled for completion at the end of October.

In a statement, Peter Brotherhood’s Board said the acquisition will offer access to improved manufacturing processes, broader geographical coverage, overseas service facilities and accelerated investment in new product development and design.
