This latest Power Engineering International Google Hangout features a conversation with Dr James Watson, CEO of Solar Power Europe, based in Brussels.

James speaks about the strides solar power technology has made globally over the last decade. From an existing worldwide capacity of 180 GW, solar is expected to reach 400 GW in global capacity by 2020, an indication of the rapid progress being made.

He also fields questions on the challenges posed by grid and storage development, policy-making and funding to the future of the technology and talks about the projections being made for the likely share of the overall power generation mix solar can expect to account for over the coming decades and beyond.

You can discuss this interview on our LinkedIn forum and also talk to James and his colleagues at Solar Power Europe if there are any further details you require.
