RWE commissions Amec Foster to fit out coal-fired power plant

RWE Power has selected Amec Foster Wheeler to commission two 550 MW ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generators for BoAplus coal-fired power generation facility in Niederraussem near Cologne, Germany.

Amec will replace the existing four 300 MW pulverized-coal units at the RWE's power plant with the CFBs. The CFB steam generators are designed to operate with various lignite fuel sources, and will allow the BoAplus plant to achieve more than 45 per cent efficiency.
