Luxembourg government working on Hinkley Point C legal objection

As promised earlier this year, the Luxembourg government intends to file a lawsuit against the European Commission decision to facilitate the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant project.

In response to a question put forward by Power Engineering International as regards the government’s intentions, Olaf Münichsdorfer, General Coordinator at the country’s department of the environment told the website, “We currently work on our contribution. We will inform you about (the nature of our complaint) in due time.”

While it remains unknown when the Luxembourgish lawsuit will be filed, the government had acknowledged in March to PEi that it would be backing the Austrian action in relation to the approval of the project.

Monique Clement, Private Secretary at Luxembourg’s Department of the Environment told Power Engineering International, “Yes we are going to follow Austria. That’s the decision of the Luxembourg government.”
