Alstom wins $100m contract in Brazil

Alstom has been awarded a turnkey contract worth roughly $100m from Eletrosul Centrais Electricas (Eletrosul) to integrate wind farms located in Rio Grande do Sul State into Brazil's transmission grid.

This project is scheduled to begin commercial operation in March 2018, the firm said in a statement.

It added: "To complete this project, Alstom will lead a consortium to provide a turnkey solution, including the supply of two new substations and the extension of six existing substations, which will connect the power from the wind farms substations."

Sérgio Gomes, Vice President of Alstom Grid in Latin America, said: "The southern region of Brazil has huge wind energy potential and will now be able to fully optimize this alternative energy."
