Enel targets emerging markets in $9.9bn renewable energy investments

Italy’s Enel Green Power is to invest $9.9bn in capital investments over the next five years through various renewable energy projects primarily in emerging markets.

The announcement is part of an expansive capacity addition and capital investment programme.

The company, led by Francesco Venturini (above), hopes to add 7.1 GW of new capacity before the end of this decade. A bulk of this capital investment and capacity expansion will take place in Chile, Mexico, and Brazil.

At the end of Q1 2015, Enel Green Power had an installed capacity of 9.8 GW with a cumulative generation of 8.7 TWh. Total revenues in the quarter increased by 12.6 per cent to €811m.
