Caracas to suffer blackouts

A drop in production from Venezuela's thermal power plants will cause the capital city of Caracas be affected by power cuts.

Armando Meleán, former general manager of energy in the Ministry of Energy and Mines, told El Nacional newspaper that the thermal plants that supply Caracas did not receive the proper maintenance.

Electricity demand in Venezuela reaches up to 1973 MW. The country has 2862 MW installed but only 1694 MW available.
