Ansaldo wins $216m Algeria gas plant deal

Ansaldo Energia has won a contract worth around $216m to supply an open cycle power plant in Algeria. Ansaldo Algeria

The Italian company secured the contract from Sociéte Algérienne de Production de l'Electricité (SPE Spa), part of state-owned group Sonelgaz, following an international tender.

Ansaldo will supply the Ain Djasser III open cycle plant with two gas turbines of about 170 MW each plus generators.

The plant will be built in the province of Batna in central Algeria about 350 km south of the capital Algiers.

Ansaldo already has a significant prescence in Algeria, with a total installed capacity of over 4400 MW.
