250 MW awarded in Guatemalan energy tender

Guatemala's National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE) has awarded 250 MW in an energy tender. Over 60 companies took part in the bid.

The Prensa Libre newspaper named the established price at $109.38/MWh. The power plants awarded in the tender must begin operations by 2018.

This was the third tender held in the country for long-term contracts, with 850 MW awarded overall. The power will be supplied from 2015 to local distributors Energuate and Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala (Eegsa).
