Chinese planning nuclear plant in Essex

China General Nuclear Power Corporation and China National Nuclear Corporation are considering Bradwell, 60 miles from central London for a new nuclear power plant.

The Times of London reports that the companies, who are helping to finance Britain’s new nuclear power industry have earmarked the north east Essex location. It was formerly the home of the decommissioned Magnox nuclear power station.

Sites in Lancashire, Hartlepool, Wales and Gloucestershire have been shortlisted but the Times says the Essex location is the preference for a new plant.
