Its network arm Intracom Telecom has contracted smart meter solutions company EDMI to supply the meters, which will be equipped with GSM/GPRS modems.
EDMI says its Mk10A meters will “eliminate the need for onsite meter reading, increase power network quality, monitor load conditions and will offer customers daily information on their consumption at 15 minute intervals”.
Chris Kontellis, general manager of Intracom Telecom, said EDMI’s Mk10A model (pictured) was “the only meter in the marketplace that has the capability to fulfil all of our requirements”.
David Stroud, general manager at EDMI Europe – which is based in the UK and owned by Japan’s Osaki Electric – said: “We are thrilled to be a partner in this first volume smart meter rollout in Greece. Such a forward-thinking project in a new market will only continue to elevate the importance of smart meters for other countries around the world.”
