Investment group looks to buy eight UK solar farms

The Foresight investment group is attempting to raise around $312m in order to buy eight of the UK’s biggest solar farms.

According to the FT it is the fourth flotation of a green energy infrastructure fund in the last six months.

The UK is one of the smaller solar markets in the EU, with less than 3 GW of solar generating capacity. But it is growing fast, thanks to a boost in subsidies three years ago, and ministers say 20GW of solar power could be possible by 2020.

The farms are expected to include two of the largest in the country, one already up and running, and one that has been approved but has yet to start generating electricity.
