Malaysian interest in Vietnamese coal-fired project

Malaysia-based Toyo Ink Group has signed a deal to develop a $3.5bn 2000 MW coal-fired power project in Vietnam.

Platts reports that the group signed an agreement with Vietnam’s energy minister to develop the Song Hau-2 coal-fired power project in the southern province of Hau Giang.


The first phase, which entails a 1000 MW unit will come online in the fourth quarter of 2021, and the second 1000 MW unit us scheduled to come into operation in the second quarter of 2022, according to a statement from the Vietnamese government.
