Israeli wave energy set for Guinea

SDE Energy is to install its wave power technology at a $100m power plant in Guinea, West Africa.

The Tel Aviv-based firm will cover 70 per cent of the costs of the 100 MW plant and eventual construction will commence as soon as the funding is raised in total.

Wave power
As little as 0.1 per cent of the power of the world’s waves may be able to supply five times its energy needs, according to the European Commission. No utility-scale projects are working yet as the technology is still experimental.
