$460.9m coal-fired plant planned in India

A 500 MW coal-fired power plant is to be developed at Gonda in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Iron ore miner NMDC in partnership with power producer IL&FS Energy Development Company (IEDCL), are to invest around $460.9m in the 2x250 MW plant.

Indian Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma said establishment of the new plant will encourage potential agro-based industries and help in ensuring better living and industrial growth in the region, reports Energy Business Review.
