Solar company REC targets Middle East business

Solar panel manufacturer and supplier REC is targeting the Middle East by opening a new office in the region and launching a new panel which is says is ideal for desert conditions.

REC says its Peak Energy Series panels have received a “desert-proof” accreditation from UK-based inspection and certification company SGS.

The panels have also been validated by the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Center at its test site in Alice Springs, central Australia.

Luc Graré, senior vice-president of solar sales and marketing at REC, said he expects the Middle East and North Africa will become “a key market from 2015, driven by rapidly increasing energy usage and high irradiation levels”.

He said the company’s new office in Dubai “will be the hub for all activities in the MENA region, where we have already started to establish a new organisation and partnerships to enter this promising market”.
