Vestas recruit former Nordex chief

Vestas (OMX: VWS) has opted to hire ex Nordex CEO Thomas Richterich to take charge as interim head of its Central Europe business.

He replaces Wolfgang Schmitz, the current president of Vestas Central Europe, who is to depart along with Udo Noebel, managing director at Vestas Deutschland.

Vestas chief sales officer Juan Araluce said: “The current situation in the wind industry and in the global market calls for Vestas to have a different strategic approach to the very important Central European market, and going forward we will focus more on dedicated sales and commercial activities in this region.

“There is no doubt that Central Europe, and Germany in particular, is very important to Vestas and with this change we expect to be able to transform Vestas Central Europe into an even more competitive entity.
