EU provides $460m to Guyana for hydropower project

Guyana in South America has succeeded in winning European Union financial assistance to construct a hydroelectric power plant on the Chiung River.

  The $615m micro-hydro power station will power schools, medical and police facilities in the region and the EU is forwarding $460m towards the overall costs.

  The facility will have an installed capacity of 330kW.
