Opinion poll shows British public favours renewables

A poll commissioned by the Sunday Times in the UK shows that the British public is mostly attracted to renewable power generation ahead of other forms of energy.

The YouGov poll reveals that 72 per cent of those questioned want more solar power to be deployed, with 55 per cent in favour of more wind farms being built.

Nuclear power merited third in the poll with 40 per cent of the public in favour. It was far and away the most popular of fossil fuels with 17 per cent of those polled choosing gas and coal powered generation.
